This past Saturday I photographed my first Naval Academy Wedding with the sweetest couple, Carolina & Jack. Ever since Saturday ended I have been dying to share tonight’s blog post! You may have already seen me sharing loads of their photos across my website and Instagram, but what’s not to love about a classy couple, a gorgeous wedding, and a fun day!?
Once again, I didn’t take my job lightly and was so honored to be capturing such a special day in such a special place. Carolina and Jack met while they were both still in school. Carolina went to the University of Maryland and Jack went to the Naval Academy. They met through a mutual friend and the rest was history. This past year they’ve been doing long distance with Jack’s job taking him down to South Carolina. They will finally be back together again and I am so happy for them both!
Their wedding day was nothing short of a fairytale. When I arrived the girls were finishing up their hair and makeup and Carolina was nearly ready to put on her wedding gown. She was so cute when she told me she kept putting it on multiple times before her wedding day because she loves it so much! Everybody should do this…then we’ll wear it more than once! Carolina was so organized throughout the wedding planning process and this put her at total ease when the day finally came around. She was a dream to work with and so easy going. Their wedding day was the first time I was meeting Jack. Due to their long distance apart we were not able to do an engagement session. Luckily we had TONS of time for portraits and it made the whole experience super comfortable.
Their wedding ceremony took place at the Navy Chapel and was the first of the day. The chapel books up fast so there were several other weddings there on the same day! Following the ceremony we took portraits in the Superintendant’s Garden next door. It was gorgeous and a nice change of scenery. Because the wedding ceremony happened at noon and the cocktail hour did not begin until 6pm we really had lots of time to spend with the bridal party and the bride and groom.
The reception later that night was a giant testament to their very loving families and friends. Jack’s brother took a red eye flight from Arizonia just to be there for the day and then had to leave later that night. Carolina’s two sisters gave speeches that didn’t leave a dry eye in the room. They were so sweet and so adoring of their big sister and her new husband. The night continued with tons of dancing and a fun party. Again, I really love this job. I love the memories that I get to preserve for people. Carolina and Jack, I hope you are enjoying your honeymoon!! Enjoy these photos!!
