Stone Tower Winery Wedding // Alex & Scott

FILED IN: Wedding

This past weekend I celebrated and photographed another glorious wedding in Northern Virginia! It was my first time shooting at Stone Tower Winery and it did not disappoint. Every detail was well thought out and planned. On top of that I was working with a very organized, driven, and happy bride and an amazing vendor team! That makes the day fantastic as well! Stone Tower is located in Leesburg, Virginia just about an hour away from Washington, DC. I love that I have the flexibility to travel to these gorgeous locations right near my home in Arlington!

Alex and Scott celebrated their wedding on a Friday. It was a beautiful sunny day and the temperature was mild all day. They couldn’t have asked for better weather. Alex and Scott have had a busy year before their wedding. They are both going to be attending med school together up in Michigan and have spent the last year working in the DMV area. They met while they were both studying in school at Colgate University and it just so happened that their wedding date fell on Colgate Day. A special day honoring their university!

They both spent the morning getting ready in cottages on the property. Alex got ready at the farm house right next to the winery while Scott and his groomsmen had a house to themselves down the road. My second shooter and I split our mornings between both locations in order to cover all of the activity! When I arrived Alex had all of her details very organized in a box that she could just hand to me! I love when brides use my checklist and are prepared. It makes my job so easy! Her florist was also there early so I had the chance to style with extra blooms. Her details were lovely and the girls were still wrapping up hair and makeup while I photographed these pieces. Once they were all ready we did bridal portraits, getting ready photos, and then made our way to meet Scott!

The couple opted for a “blind first look” and read letters from each other while they held hands behind their backs. It was a sweet moment before they made their way to the church. The Catholic ceremony took place at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic church in Sterling, VA. The home parish of Alex and her family. It was a heartfelt ceremony with Alex’s Phillipino heritage intertwined. Following the ceremony we made our way back to Stone Tower for bridal party and bride and groom portraits. Stone Tower had a golf cart and a venue coordinator prepared to drive us around the property. It was fantastic! The lighting was gorgeous and we took our time making sure to hit up all of the best spots! The reception was quite the party with tons of dancing, break dancing from the father of the bride and even a surprise dance from the bride and her dad! Alex even went one step further and “iced” Scott while he was looking for her garter! Everybody LOVED that!!

Congratulations again Alex and Scott!! Best wishes as you begin your new phase of life in Michigan!!
